Chris started out as an assistant-director, producer’s assistant and runner on features and shorts including the Harry Potter series and Shadow of the Vampire.
He trained as an editor, quickly becoming head of post and then creative director where he trained a team of award-winning directors and editors, winning a Royal Television Society award for production in 2007. Chris became freelance and has been producing branded content since 2008.
After directing his first two narrative shorts which screened at Academy qualifying festivals, he studied for a master’s degree, to spend a year developing his craft as a drama director and exploring new creative work.
Chris graduated with a distinction in 2018 for his thesis film, The Rocketship, and won the university’s Court Medal for outstanding academic achievement.
He was shortlisted for the 2019 New Talent Development fund through BFI and Scottish Film Talent Network and is currently developing a new short film and a first feature screenplay.
Chris was selected for the 2019 Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab and the 2019 Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab. The Rocketship was nominated for a Golden Egg award at the Reykavik International Film Festival.
